This was a big week for our family. Benjamin started 2nd grade. Paige started kindergarten. Benjamin had his baptism and his 8th birthday. Michael had his 4th birthday.

Thank you to everyone who took part in these events especially those who had to travel a while to make it. This baptism was a special event for our family and we are so greatful to have such devoted, loving families to share this joy with.

Benjamin is very proud of this ship that he built because he made it without any help or diagrams.

I know these pictures are out of order. This one of Michael is after the hunt.

Michael opened all of his eggs filled with candy and had all of the decorated hard boiled eggs left over. He wasn't sure what they were or how to get the "prize" (as he called it) out. I guess Michael was unfamiliar with hard boiled eggs. My sister told him that there wasn't any candy inside, that they were food, you eat them. Michael asked if they were cooked. My sister told him yes. So he took the end of the egg, put it in his mouth and bit down. Evidently, my sister was not clear on the peeling of the egg before you eat it. Once that part was clarified, he excitedly pealed all 7 of his eggs and found the "prize" in the middle of each. He ate a lot of yolks and bounced the egg whites on the counter. Funny boy.

Michael and Paige teamed up to find their eggs. Benjamin is not in any of the pictures because he went way on ahead and I never saw him until it was all over.

This is obvioulsly not the Easter egg hunt. This one is Ron building a block retaining wall for our front yard. It's just the beginning of a very large project.

Halloween and Michael's BOO-BOO

Happy Halloween!

The first set of Michael's pictures were on Thursday, Trunk or Treat at the church.

Michael had fallen down the stairs earlier that day and was not happy even hours later.

Below you can see how unhappy he was.
Ben was a ninja and Paige was a fairy princess.

This set of pictures was taken Saturday. He was feeling much better and he had a great Halloween. Good thing thursday was just the trial run.

I took him to the urgent care clinic and it turned out that the fall down the stairs was not that forgiving. Funny thing, two days before I had told my mom that I was amazed my kids have no broken bones so far considering how active they are. I don't believe in jinxes, but if I didn't believe in a higher power, it would make me wonder.

He goes in tomorrow for a real cast.

Please, keep in mind as you view these pictures that we just moved in yesterday. So, things are still a bit of a shambles, but you get the idea of the lay out. We really like it. We feel very blessed. This is a huge step up from just over a year ago.
This is the back. It's all fenced in with a sidewalk down the other side. The back yard is a bit smaller, but has quite a large front yard, which is not yet landscaped, so I didn't photograph it.

We just signed our purchase agreement for our new home. That means it will be ours in 30 days or less. We're real excited. A lot has happened in the last year. I'll be sure to post some pictures soon if I can just remember to take my camera next time I'm there. Oh, thank you for all of those who have lent a hand in shaping the place up. Just a Few Pictures to Catch Up

We had Paige's pictures and family pictures done recently. For us, family pictures went better than expected. No one's crying! Paige is making a bit of a nutty face, but it was the best one of all of us together.

This one of Ron is a little old, but we haven't updated things in a while.

Michael, getting ready for church. Oh, and Michael is doing great potty training. I was worried because he's so afraid of the toilet. He's pretty much done it over night. He hasn't even wet the bed in two weeks and he holds it all of the way through church. He's still afraid of other potties that aren't his and ones that don't have his ducky insert for the lid.

Update On My Brother

Thank you for all of your prayers. My brother had a biopsy on Monday and the results came back today. For those of you who did not yet know, the first doctor's assumption that the tumor was Lymphoma was incorrect. The tumor was actually in his left lung. Anyway, today, the results showed that he has a Lung Carcinoid, which is cancer. It is quite rare and accounts for no more than one percent of cancers. This one that he has is fortunately Typical, meaning he is likely to be cured once he has the half of his left lung which has the tumor surgically removed Vs. Atypical which is whole other story. This is a great thing when it comes to cancer, that is, if it all plays out in the best scenario. So, please continue to pray for that. In reading, this Typical Lung Carcinoid can be removed leaving Steve a 90%-100% 5 year survival rate (meaning they live anywhere beyond 5 years). This is fantastic news Vs. just lung cancer, which we feared, having only a 15% 5 year survival rate. We were all pretty afraid. So, after surgery he should be just about normal again in about 3-4 months, although he will be able to start moving around just days after the surgery, in fact, it is expected for proper healing. Please, continue to pray for him through his surgery. The date is not yet set. I'll keep you posted. Thank you.

Pray For My Brother

Today I found out that my brother, Steven, had been admitted to the hospital. I don't know all of the details. I know that last night he was walking at Graffiti Night with his family, when his heart started racing out of control and he could barely breath. He was admitted in the hospital right away. His heart rate was higher than most of the doctors had ever seen. They could not slow it down, so they had to stop his heart temperarily. It seemed to work. They did other tests and sent him home 6 hours later. Today, the hospital called for him to come back to be scanned because something was seen on his prior x-rays. After the scan results, he called and told me that the doctors found a golf ball sized growth above one of his lungs. The heart problem was most likely caused by the growth getting so big that it pressed against his heart. That may have been a blessing in disguise, otherwise, the growth wouldn't have been found until it was too late. The doctors think that the growth is Lymphoma. He is due for more testing as soon as possible. He is only 27 in two days, too young for this kind of thing. So, please, include him and his family in your prayers and ask others to do the same. Thank you.

Coast Trip

Our family took our first mini-vacation since Ron graduated. We're trying to figure out what normal life is like and it's been looking up. We had a real fun time staying at Grandpa Gibby's coast house with Grandpa, Jesse and Taylor the dog. We went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, a couple of beaches and just hung out. Overall, I rate it a success.

Easter Fun! The big haul.

I know, this is the most horrible smile I've ever seen. I think it means "Ha Ha, I'm so proud!".

The next evening, Easter Sunday, the kids were playing in their rooms for quiet time and then we heard a BANG! We have a rubbermaid dresser on top of Benny's dresser for lack of space in their room. Needless to say, it is now on the floor. Michael climbed up the dresser and on top of the rubbermaid dresser. The rubber dresser gave in and Michael fell quite a way to the floor. He had blood smeared all over his forehead. After wiping it up, we could make out the source of his ouchy. Thus, the following pictures:

So, just before the BAR he shaved it, thus the following picture. After this picture he shaved the remaining off. By the way, Ron's finishing the BAR at about 5:00 pm today. Go, Ron!!!

UGH! THE AROMA! Part 2

WARNING TO THE FAINT OF SIGHT!!!

So, if you didn't read my last blog posting, please read it before you procede with this one. After waiting way to long to investigate the source of the stink, I convinced Ron to go under the house and check things out.

I don't know where to begin since the picture below tells all. I convinced my oldest son Benjamin to accompany me into the bowels of the house.(he is 6 years old and the $5 I promised him helped too) We got under the house and crawled about 30 or 40 feet under air ducts and spider webs until we arrived at the scene of the crime. I couldn't find the source of the stench very well because I had daubbed my nose with Vicks Vapor Rub. The Vicks was on my lips, under and in my nostrils. I was taking no chances of puking under there. Things became very tight between the joists and the ground and Benjamin told me his legs were shaking because they were scared. At this point he also told me that he had brought "wormy" his new pet. Which you can guess by the name was a worm he found today and had placed in a sippy cup. So the three of us were stuck and Benjamin asked if we could say a prayer to find the stinky and get out of there. Ben said a prayer and no joke, as soon as he finished I spotted a large clump of fur. Reaching out to grab it, it was nothing. I looked up at an air duct and saw it.....

At first I thought it was a baseball glove....WITH LIPS! UGGH. I reached up and tugged and pulled for about a minute and out came a huge oppossum! It had been trapped between a joist and an airduct. I swished it into a plastic bag and we got the heck out of there. I hadn't selled it though which was weird. We scrambled out feeling like champions and showed it to mommy. Her scientific mind got the better of her and she said "smell it and see if that was it." My curiosity got the better of me so I stuck my whole face in the bag and inhaled deeply just in case the Vicks was too strong. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I vomited almost instantaneously and threw the carcass far away from me. Well, that's about it. DeLynne got a good laugh and Benjamin showed me how brave he was crawling under the house with his good ol' dad. That's what sons are for.

I know I have no exciting pictures with this one, but if I could send you a smell, that would really do the trick. Anyway, something died under our house, right where our bathroom is. Every day the smell escalates. It's unbearable! I have vomit sitting in the back of my throat all day. I've been avoiding the bathroom until the last possible moment. If I do go in, I have to plug my nose or hold my breath. I don't like the idea of just breathing through my mouth either. How long is this going to last? I'm not about to climb under the house and stick my arm or hand in what ever it is.Ugh! There's my rant. Again, I wish everyone could just smell what I'm going through.

So, every Sunday the kids get all gussied up for church. This also means that every Sunday we have to take pictures of how pretty and handsome everyone is. This just became something of a tradition and with a digital camera, it's no biggy. Particularly, Paige anticipates this moment for herself to shine in all her glory. If she could, she would just go all out crazy. I tell her that first she has to give me one good picture. Now, I'll leave these words to rest and show you what I mean. Beware, some of these are quite grotesque.

Snow Day

It snowed pretty good today. At our home we got about 3-4 inches. My parents live just up the hill from us, about one mile away. They had about 6-7 inches. So, this morning Ron decided we needed fire wood so he headed up the hill with us so we could visit family while he cut. Well, I didn't think we would make it and I let him know that a half dozen times. He says I'm over cautious so up we went. Long story short, I was right. As we were sliding backwards in his car half way up the hill, he yelled for everyone to get out, so we did and we walked up the hill, all but Ron and the dog. I saw the car drifting back and into the bank. Fun experience, everything turned out all right in the end.

YOU GUESSED IT! A DOG!

Funny story. Ron went to the doctor for a regular new patient check up and came back with a dog. He said the doctor said she had 5 German Shepherd puppies and was giving them away for free. He couldn't resist. The dog's name is Ender. The kids are pretty excited about it and for an eight week old puppy he's pretty good, except he keeps pooing on our concrete walk way. That's got to stop!

Of course, there always has to be competition.

Ben's Last Soccer Game

Well, Ron and I coached Ben's 1st grade soccer team this year. It went real well. We won 6 out of 8 games. We lost the first two because the kids weren't sure what they were doing yet. After that, they figured things out and won all of the rest of the games. They were a fun bunch of kids.

So, this Halloween we had a race car driver, a care bear, and a frog.

This year we went trunk or treating at the church as usual. At first Paige wasn't too sure. Then, after like one minute she figured out the name of the game and she was off. She must have hit each trunk 20 times. I felt bad because people started turning her away (I don't blame them), but I had Michael and was having a hard time keeping up to stop her mooching. It got so bad she started taking candy out of other peoples bags and turning away things she didn't want like pencil's and what not. What a kid, she sure keeps me on my toes.

Michael remained confused about the hole ordeal and wouldn't say a word, but I think he rather liked getting candy for nothing.

Our Big Fat 4th of July

We went down to the 'burg for the 4th of July and hung out with both sets of grandparents. We spent the 4th with Grandpa and Grandma Gibby and the 5th at Grandpa and Grandma Sperry's house swimming. The kids loved both events and had tons of fun. Paige is a fireworks bug, or maybe just a fire bug. Michael wasn't sure what to think since he cried while fireworks were going off and laughed when they finished. And Benjamin, well let's just say "Daddy! Light the big one! light the big one.......BOOM!! YEAH!!!"

Michael wasn't sure what to think so as usual, he looked to mommy for an answer and support. Mommy loves this though Michael is her little man.

Here is Benjamin holding one of his new found friends. It tried to bite him several times in the face but couldn't open its mouth wide enough. Ben thought it was pretty fun. Watch out mother nature, Ben and Paige are on your trail!

Benjamin also lost his first tooth last week the old fashioned way. HeeHee. Dad thought it was fun anyways. For $3, Dad thinks he got his money's worth.
